It’s a new year for team NOMAD, and we are so grateful to have started it off with LA Fleet Week on Labor Day weekend. Our mechanic and software teams spent a few weeks in preparation for the competition fine tuning our lift, autonomous, and grabber. When competitions started, everything worked smoothly, but towards the […]

Have a computer monitor mounted at the front of our pit instead of the back to show off images that represent the build season. Have an area just outside of the pit for conversations with judges. Keep seeking sponsors through out the year. Start earlier if possible because the deadlines happen so quickly for rookie teams. […]
2018 Week 2 of Build Season
By the end of week two, we continued to play with prototyping our grabber and testing out methods to lift and lower a cube. We also spent time CADing different design options and discussing the importance of each robot task. There may have also been some food and foosball going on.
2018 Week 1 of Build Season
This week our team made a lot of progress on our robot. We started off with a few different ideas and prototypes, which we then put to use on our robot just to see how they would work out. We also decided that we were going to be using pneumatics on our robot, so everyone had […]
We enjoyed visiting the Daedalus (FRC Team 2839) workshop in our first week of the build season. We were in need of some parts to start prototyping our robot and Daedalus was gracious in offering to lend us some parts. Daedalus has a very well organized workshop. Our team felt like kids in a candy […]
2018 FIRST Kickoff
Our team attended our first FIRST Kickoff at Viasat in Carlsbad. Although it was an early morning start (especially for a Saturday), it was totally worth it! We were warmly greeted by many other teams and many teams offered to help us with whatever we needed to get a start to the season. Everyone was […]
Programming with SuperNURDS
A huge shout-out to team 3255 SuperNURDS from San Pasqual High School. On December 1 we went over to their workshop, and Tayler Uva helped us program a RoboRIO for driver control. Due to power problems, our roboRIO couldn’t spin the motor, so they kindly let us test the program out on their robot. So […]
Thanks W.A.R. Lords!
We are very grateful to W.A.R. Lords for inviting us to attend a crash course on programming the roboRIO. They were hosting visitors from South Africa who were interested in starting a robotics club and they graciously included a member of our team. We had the opportunity to learn how to wire and image the […]
